Competition for Schick? Leverkusen wants to acquire the goal scorer from St. Petersburg

Patrik Schick has had an excessively successful Euro. Along with Cristiano Ronaldo, he was the top scorer and finished it with five goals. However, Leverkusen still want to increase his competition.

Bayer Leverkusen has not had the best season. Even Patrik Schick, who was supposed to be a big boost, hasn’t changed that. The Czech striker did not have a bad season, but of course it could have been better.

His competitor Lucas Alario also fared similarly to Schick, they had more or less similar numbers, with the productive Leon Bailey complementing them well on offense.

But that’s not enough for Leverkusen and that’s why they are thinking about further strengthening their offensive line. There is a lot of speculation about the possible arrival of a Zenit St. Petersburg star, specifically Sardar Azmoun.

Azmoun has been the second top scorer of not only Zenit, but the entire competition in the last three seasons in the Russian league. Of those, his teammate Artem Dzyuba finished just ahead of him twice.

Azmoun is one of Zenit’s key players. Since his arrival in St. Petersburg, he has played 85 games for the club with a solid record of 54 goals scored and 19 assists.

According to Transfermarkt, the Iranian striker is worth €25 million, but Leverkusen are only offering €18 million for him. However, Bayer still have the funds available from the sale of Kai Havertz.

Journalists Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca di Marzio claim that negotiations between Leverkusen, Zenit and the player are already at an advanced stage. However, the price is being addressed, as well as AS Roma’s interest.

However, the Italian outfit is not offering a specific financial amount, preferring rather a player swap, which Zenit may not want to agree to.
