Champions League
It’s Ferencváros! The club’s history comes alive, the Slavs have something to look forward to
Ferencváros, after 2:0 and 3:1 results, easily passed Lithuanian Žalgiris Vilnius and will challenge Prague Slavia in the 3rd round of the Champions League. The two teams have a rich history and all indications are that it will be a very evenly matched double-header.
The Hungarian champion doesn’t sound like much to a Czech fan, but the quality of Ferencváros is unquestionable. Hungarian football is experiencing a huge boom, which was also evident at the Euro.
The undefeated Slavia have a really tough nut to crack. On the other hand, if you want to play in the Champions League, you simply have to deal with quality.
Interestingly, both teams have a very rich pre-war history. Ferencváros won the Central European Cup in 1928 and 1937, Slavia in 1938.
What is the mutual record of these clubs from this period? Three times Ferencváros won, three times there was a draw and twice Slavia won.
The important match for the whole Czech football will be broadcast by O2 TV Sport, which has acquired the broadcasting rights. This is a great opportunity for the private television to showcase its new luxury studio to the public.
