On Tuesday evening the first preliminary rounds of the Champions League started. Cluj and Ferencváros were the most resounding teams and both managed to win their matches. The former won 3-1 against Banja Luka, while the Hungarian champion beat Pristina 3-0.
In other matches, Estonian Flora Talin beat Maltese Hibernians 2: 0, Slovenian Mura won in Tetovo, Albania 1: 0.
Zalgiris Vilnius of Lithuania won 3:1 against Linfield of Northern Ireland and Budućnost Podgorica of Montenegro lost 1:3 to Helsinki of Finland.
Luxembourg Fola’s loss to outsider Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar was a surprise. The 2::2 draw is a big exclamation mark for the rematch.
Three matches of the first preliminary round of the European Conference League were also played. Slovakia’s Spartak Trnava lost ignominiously 2: 3 to Maltese club Mosta FC, at one point even trailing 0: 3.
In the other two matches, Gibraltar’s Mons Calpe drew 1-1 with Andorra’s Santa Coloma and Montenegro’s FK Podgorica won 1-0 against Albania’s KF Laçi. The next matches are scheduled for Wednesday, with the rematch a week later.
