Twenty-six teams are already guaranteed to participate in the Champions League group stages. Only six places remain. The Polish and Norwegian champions are also in the running for one. In the first preliminary round of the Champions League, Legia Warsaw will travel to Norway to face the local champions Bodo/Glimt.
The hosts are currently second in the Eliteserien, Norway’s top league, which started in May.
Legia have so far only had a summer training camp and, of course, a few friendly matches. So the new season is off to a rough start.
It would seem that the northerners would be at an advantage in the start of the season because of the spread. But the opposite is true, 3 players will miss the game due to injuries.
On the Polish side, the only question mark is over the start of Tomas Pekhart, who has already finished his national team duties.
Legia has definitely more experience when it comes to playing in European competitions. After all, Bodo/Glimt was still kicking around the Norwegian League II in 2017, although its campaign in the preliminary rounds last year was halted only by AC Milan (B/G first knocked out Zalgiris Kaunas and then Zalgiris Vilnius). The Poles also definitely have a better roster.
