Saturday’s European Football Championship programme will conclude with a match between Spain and Poland. Neither side won their opening game, so we can expect a very interesting duel. Who will enjoy the victory?
Spain took on Sweden in their first match at the European Championships. Although coach Luis Enrique’s selection was much more active and had the ball on the hoof 75% of the time, they failed to score a goal.
This made it difficult for the Spanish footballers to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. If they don’t want to finish in the group stage, they should make it through Saturday’s clash with Poland and take all three points.
Poland played Slovakia in the tournament opener. Coach Paulo Sousa was expected to lead his charges to victory. But the opposite was true and Poland had to suffer a 1:2 defeat.
The biggest star of the team is of course Robert Lewandowski. However, even the thirty-two year old striker did not quite make it out of the game against Slovakia and came away with a goalless draw.
We can expect Spain to be the more active team in Saturday’s clash, with their opponents relying mainly on quick counter-attacks.
So what to bet on? The Spanish are the paper favourites for the match and will be able to take advantage of their home environment. The fact that Poland have not won even once in their last four international matches is a good sign.
