The Swiss celebrate their first win. The Turks came up empty in the third game and finish the tournament

The teams of Switzerland and Turkey played their last matches in the group. Turkey needed to win badly, Switzerland needed a draw to finish third. A match rich in chances produced 15 shots on goal.

Turkey hasn’t scored a single goal in the tournament yet, so today after two defeats
they needed a win. They had their first chance in the 4th minute, but Ayhan’s volley
Sommer caught it.

The Swiss had one point after the loss to Italy and the draw with Wales. In today’s
…a draw was enough for third place. It is not certain, however, that the 2
points would be enough to advance.

The Swiss took the lead in the 7th minute when Seferovic received a pass between 4 players and sent the ball to the back post from a turn, but goalkeeper Cakir couldn’t reach the shot.

In the 27th minute the difference was already two goals. Shaqiri shot from behind the sixteen with his weaker foot and uncompromisingly swept the cobwebs of Cakir’s shrine.

An excellent first half produced many chances. There were 8 shots on target, the most in a half in this year’s championship. The Turks tried to shoot from more
but goalkeeper Sommer caught everything.

The second half continued as the first ended. There were plenty of shots on goal. In the 58th minute, after a bad play by Turkey, Shaqiri got a promising chance, and his pass found Embolo, but Shaqiri sent the ball high over from the penalty spot.

Three minutes later, Seferovic made a beautiful cross over 3 players, but Cakir’s shot to the far post was fingertipped for a corner.

In the 63rd minute, Turkey managed to make the game dramatic with their first goal of the championship. Kahveci, like Shaqiri, beautifully cleared the cobwebs from outside the box.

Sommer was short on the shot and capitulated for the first time in the match. Six minutes later, however, it was two goals again. Shaqiri was alone in front of the goalkeeper and scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-1.

The rest of the match saw a few rare chances. Xhakova is worth mentioning. His direct kick, half a metre outside the box, was directed only into the bar.

The Turks leave the tournament with 0 points, while the Swiss finish in third place with 4 points. They should probably advance from the third team table.
