The Ballon d’Or will probably be a big fight this year. There are several footballers who deserve it. However, Paul Pogba believes that his national teammate should win the award.
The Ballon d’Or? There are several players who would deserve it for their performances in the season just gone and in the interim of 2021. Be it Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi or N’Golo Kanté.
And it is the latter who has been the most talked about in recent weeks, as he was the best player in key Champions League matches, which he also managed to win with his Chelsea side.
Kanté would also like to win the award for the best footballer on the planet, as would his teammate Paul Pogba.
“I have been saying for a long time that if Chelsea win the Champions League, N’Golo will win the Ballon d’Or. Now it has happened and he would absolutely deserve it,” the Manchester United star is clear.
“Kanté is still playing the same way. He hasn’t changed in the last few months either. There’s a lot of talk about his performances now, but he’s still the same player, he’s still playing great,” Pogba continued.
But if anything could boost Kanté’s chances of winning an individual award, it is surely success at the upcoming European Championships, where France will have a very strong squad.
“It’s nice to see such a line-up, but we have to live up to expectations first,” Pogba told Eurosport of the favourite role France find themselves in.
