Tomás Kalas was supposed to start alongside Čelůstka in the friendly against Italy in the starting line-up. However, according to Jaroslav Šilhavy, he suffered a minor injury before the match which has ruled him out of the game.
The Spartan stopper started the match but was substituted after half-time. It seemed to be a tactical substitution, but now it seems that Čelůstka had to withdraw due to health problems.
The Czech national team will move to Prague on Sunday, where both stoppers will undergo a closer examination of their injuries. According to these results, the next step will be taken.
The management team is of course hoping for a speedy recovery of the players, but they must already have a plan B in place in case health problems rule out one or even both defenders.
There are two options. Patrizio Stronati from Baník Ostrava and Václav Jemelka from Belgian Leuven. Another possibility is the donation of David Pavelka, who is a central midfielder but can also play stopper. Jaroslav Zelený from Jablonec has also had a very good season at stopper.
Of course, this would only be a nomination, Jaroslav Šilhavý could use the current resources in the starting line-up. Two stoppers, David Zima and Jakub Brabec, would remain in the squad. There is a possibility of moving Alex Kral or Tomáš Holeš to the defence, both of them can play at stopper.
