From loved to hated. Soucek is considered a racist because of his defense of Kudela?
Less than three months after the Ondřej Kuděla incident, Tomáš Souček publicly expressed his views in an interview with iDnes. He defended his colleague and called his punishment absurd.
Less than three months after the Ondřej Kuděla incident, Tomáš Souček publicly expressed his views in an interview with iDnes. He defended his colleague and called his punishment absurd. However, he has not been understood on the Islands and has been labelled a racist.
For the first time, Tomáš Souček loudly defended Ondřej Kúdely. One of the most beloved footballers in the Islands has been transformed overnight into one of the most controversial. While his statements about racism have found their supporters, the majority of reactions have been negative.
In addition, the often not entirely accurate translations from the Czech add to the fire. Many media outlets also made a jigsaw puzzle out of the interview, often putting sentences from other paragraphs together.
After a wave of negative reactions, even Tomáš Souček had to comment on Twitter. “My comments in the recent interview did not come out the way I meant them, were taken out of context and misunderstood.”
“A racist defending a racist!” is now coming from the Islands. Apart from such messages, however, many fans are defending the West Ham London midfielder.
After reading the full interview, they agree with most of the general claims of racism and accuse the media of damaging the player for their own gain.
Even West Ham’s biggest website , West Ham Central, has defended him. His statement helped a lot, as the British media are experts at twisting the words of famous footballers.
We can only hope that this case at the Euro will not affect the performance of Soucek or his opponents. A large group of fans are also calling for violent play against him.
