Inzaghi: After the LM draw we didn’t expect to get this far. But even Barcelona and Bayern weren’t happy to get Inter

Inter Milan have one foot in the Champions League final. In the rematch against city rival AC, they only need to avoid a two-goal defeat to fulfil a dream that none of their fans even thought of before the season.
When the Champions League qualifying groups were drawn in August, Inter Milan were among the most upset teams. The draw was very unforgiving.
It threw them into the group of death with Bayern and Barcelona in the third basket. Viktoria Plzen were added to that group.
At that moment, no Inter fan thought that their team would be one step away from the final. They were already slowly coming to terms with the Europa League and hoping to fight Barcelona for a place in the eighth round.
And they did, Inter beat Barcelona 1-0 at home, drew 3-3 away and secured qualification to the Eight Finals.
“It is clear that there was some disappointment in August because we were unlucky in the draw, but I said that Bayern and Barcelona were probably also unlucky to get Inter into the group,” Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said at a press conference ahead of the semi-final rematch.
In the knockout stage, Inter took on the Portuguese giants, knocking out both Porto and Benfica. The third place went to AC Milan, the famous Derby della Madoninna.
And the first game on “away” soil went well, winning 2-0. He’s in a great position for the rematch.
“It’s one of the most important games in Inter’s history. We know we have a deserved advantage, but we also know we must not give in, but play like Inter,” Inzaghi added.
