Inter Milan won their Champions League semi-final rematch 1-0 to reach the final 3-0. Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal of a rather boring game in the second half.
AC tried again in the fifth minute, but Theo Hernandez’s long-range effort flew just over the crossbar. Five minutes later, Brahim Diaz had a chance, but his volley was covered by André Onana.
On the other side, Henrik Mkhitaryan shot from just outside the box but missed the target. Inter weren’t very dangerous, but they played what they needed to. They kept the ball fairly well, didn’t get too creative.
In the 38th minute, Rafael Leao had an individual effort, but then his left-footed shot just missed the back post.
Two minutes later, Mike Maignan intervened, his face deflecting a shot which was still crossed by Olivier Giroud.
After the change of sides, both teams started with a lot of inaccuracies, especially with AC’s actions creaking. In any case, Inter didn’t get stuck in, threatening through both wing-backs, but not getting into the end zone at all.
But in the 75th minute Inter did take the lead, Lautaro Martinez was well positioned in the penalty area and fired past Maignano. And the Argentine striker fired again three minutes later, this time the French goalkeeper kept him out.
Inter finished the game with experience, and the frustration of their opponents was logically evident. Romelu Lukaku still fired over in stoppage time.
Inter will face the winner of Manchester City vs. Real Madrid in the final in Istanbul, the opening match ended 1-1.
