After thirty-three long years, Naples celebrates the league title! Celebrations erupted throughout the city, which has been painted blue for several weeks. However, the celebrations also had a negative ending, as one fan died and others were injured.
At the end of April, when Naples only drew with Salernitana at home, the celebrations had to be postponed. However, a point from Udinese was enough to spark massive celebrations.
Many fans celebrated in Udinese, but most of them at home in Naples, where the match was even screened in Diego Armando Maradona’s stadium.
The celebrations then moved on to the city, which turned completely blue. There were celebrations everywhere, in the streets, in cars, on scooters and on the roofs of houses.
Preparations for the celebrations had been going on for weeks, players and coaches no longer walked quietly down the street here. The drug dealers, who have their work cut out for them, must also be happy.
But there has been a tragedy. Local police say a 26-year-old man has died of a gunshot wound. The shooting also injured three other people.
At this time, it is unclear if this incident is related to the title celebration. What is certain, however, is that hundreds more fans were injured because of the celebration.
Many of them had to be hospitalized for burns due to the use of pyrotechnics or for broken limbs and dislocations.
In short, the hospitals are currently taking care of business. And the celebrations are not expected to die down much in the coming days. After all, it’s been over 30 years waiting for the title!
