Will Manchester City win the Champions League? Guardiola’s curse a thing of the past, shamans said to have lifted it and Touré wishes Citizens success
Pep Guardiola made Manchester City one of the most feared and best teams on the planet, winning virtually everything he could with them. Except for the Champions League and the trophies that go with it. Whether the curse of his former charge was to blame for that remains to be seen. It’s now said to have been lifted.

Touré didn’t get on with Guardiola
Yaya Touré spent eight long years at Manchester City. After arriving from Barcelona in 2010, he has developed into one of the mainstays and best players not only in the Premier League. In a Citizens jersey, he became a legend.
In fact, he put in incredible performances and scored 79 goals in 316 competitive games, adding 49 assists. He won three league titles with the team and also helped to three League Cup wins and one FA Cup victory.
It’s worth noting that Pep Guardiola managed him back at Barcelona and didn’t rely on him too much. So, when he came to Manchester City in 2016 and Touré was a key player, it was expected what kind of relationship would exist between the two.
Anyway, what happened was that Touré started to be used less and less. After all, even in his numbers it was clear that he and the Catalan strategist didn’t exactly get along twice. It resulted in his departure in 2018, with the four-time African Footballer of the Year complaining about his mistreatment.
Guardiola was even accused of racism and to make matters worse, Touré had a ritual arranged with some shamans in which the acclaimed coach was cursed to never be able to win the Champions League.
Curse lifted. Will Guardiola win the Champions League?
Whether it was a curse we’ll leave to your superstition, either way Guardiola has won everything with Manchester City so far. Just not the Champions League and the trophies that can be won afterwards. The curse is in the past, though.
“I want to apologise for this whole thing. The time has come for this bitterness to subside. I know Yaya feels the same way. He wants nothing but success for Manchester City. I can say that the shamans have lifted the curse and I think the Citizens will win the Champions League with Guardiola,” Dimitri Seluk, the man who previously represented Touré, told The Mirror .
Touré himself, however, has responded to his comments and denies that Seluk is still representing him. Among other things, he asked not to be associated with similar stereotypes about African curses.
Already on Tuesday, Manchester City face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Can they make it through the royals to the final?
