Barcelona has raised money to renovate Camp Nou! 20 investors will help, how much will it cost the Catalan club in total?

Positive news for Barcelona! The Catalan football club has confirmed that it has finally managed to raise the necessary money for the renovation of Camp Nou. What is the amount of money involved and what all is supposed to be part of the project?

According to an official statement, it is to involve as many as twenty investors and a sum of 1.45 billion euros. That is roughly EUR 34 billion in our currency.

The club has even already presented a plan according to which the renovation of the stadium will take place. The redevelopment is to take place over three years and will begin on 1 June.

The capacity of the stadium is, of course, linked to this. This currently stands at 99,000 seats, after the renovation this figure is expected to rise to 105,000.

During that time, Barcelona will play its competitive matches at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys multi-purpose stadium, with the financial impact ultimately being less than originally predicted.

In fact, Spanish news site Football Espaňa reports that the Blaugrana were originally expected to lose around €93 million in revenue from matches played at the temporary stadium, which will host around 40 matches until November 2024.

It is at that time that the Catalan big club intends to return to the Camp Nou, which will have a capacity of 70,000 seats at that time and major renovation work will be completed.

However, the club expects that the financial loss will not be such, specifically “only” in the amount of 55 million euros. The already indebted club has also revealed when it will start to make its repayments in connection with the stadium renovation.

However, in addition to the stadium itself, another element of the project, called Espai Barca, will be the refurbishment of the Palau Blaugrana sports hall, offices and general infrastructure.
