Chelsea football is drowning in problems. It is only 11th in the current Premier League table and was knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid. First Thomas Tuchel was sacked, then his successor Graham Potter packed his bags.
The season at Chelsea is being saved by new coach and club legend Frank Lampard. But even under his leadership, the Blues are not getting results.
That’s why speculation has started to grow about who will take over the club, which has already sacked two coaches this season, from the summer. There has been speculation about the young and progressive coach Julian Nagelsmann, who was recently sacked at Bayern Munich, or former Barcelona and Spanish national team boss Luis Enrique.
But according to journalist Roman, it looks like someone quite different. Romano has published information that Chelsea are in contract talks with former Southampton, Tottenham and PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The Italian journalist writes that negotiations between the two parties are ongoing and a deal is imminent. Pochettino has been discussing with Chelsea’s management about the long-term project and his ideas at the club.
Romano also posted on social media that Nagelsmann and Enrique are no longer candidates for the Chelsea coaching job.
Pochettino, on the other hand, is very close to getting the job. Negotiations between Chelsea and Pochettino are said to be in the final stages. However, they are still waiting for the final contract to be signed.
Pochettino has a very good reputation in the British Isles, which he gained mainly as coach of Tottenham, with whom he regularly fought for the title, placed in the top four of the table and in 2019 led the Roosters to the Champions League final, in which they lost to Liverpool 2: 0.
