Liverpool managed to win the last four rounds, albeit three of them with big nerves at the end of the game, which helped them move up to the fifth place in the table. But they must also look behind them, with seventh-placed Aston Villa just two points behind.
Fulham are already only finishing the year in the middle of the table, and without mainstay Aleksandar Mitrovic, who was given an eight-match ban. They are now tenth after two losses in a row and are nine points behind in the European Cups.
Liverpool’s key figures
The Reds rely on the productive Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian winger has netted 28 goals and assisted 11. Diogo Jota is getting into decent form after injury, currently on five goals and eight assists.
Fulham’s key figures
The visitors have no real leader in the absence of Mitrovic, winger Willian is now on three goals and four assists. Harry Wilson is coming into form after a niggling injury, striking three times and assisting twice from the wing.
Prediction
Liverpool have long relied on a goalscoring attack and it is no different after the departure of Sadio Mané. The Reds have the third best attack in the competition with 65 goals, averaging 3.4 shots per round in the last five rounds.
This is not at all suited to Fulham, who with 45 goals conceded have the second worst defensive record in the Premier League top 12 after Tottenham. It has not kept a clean sheet for five games, during which it has received an average of two goals.
Considering Liverpool’s momentum, especially offensively, the Anfield factor and the motivation to fight for the Champions League, and also considering Fulham’s attack’s woes without Mitrovic, I expect the Reds to win by at least two goals.
