It’s been almost two years since Zinedine Zidane has been out of contract. But that is about to change. The legend of French football seems to have already made it clear where he will be working from the new season.
It’s been almost two years since Zinedine Zidane has been out of contract. But that is about to change. The legend of French football seems to have already made it clear where he will be working from the new season.
Two coaching engagements at the highest level, both at Real Madrid. First between 2016 and 2019, then between 2019 and 2021. In that time, Zinedine Zidane has coached 263 competitive games at his former club.
As a pilot of the Spanish giant, Zidane won the Champions League three times with his team, twice became Spanish champion, winner of the Club World Cup, Spanish Cup or Spanish Super Cup.
There has been much talk that the Frenchman could stay in his native country and take over, for example, PSG, who are still hungry for the Champions League trophy, the competition in which Zidane shone the brightest in his coaching role.
Recently, the possibility of a third return to Madrid has also been discussed, as it is not at all clear whether Carlo Ancelotti will continue on the Los Blancos bench. Indeed, there is speculation about his demise if he does not win the Champions League.
But now, in France, completely new information has emerged. Specifically, it has come from RMC Sport, which claims that Zidane would like to accept a role in a long-term project with one of the top teams. There should be some clarity on which team that should be.
Zidane is expected to sign for Juventus of Turin in the summer. Negotiations should even have already started and are at an advanced stage. He will therefore probably replace Massimiliano Allegri in the position.
Zidane has been a player at Juventus, so he is not expecting anything too new. He is more or less familiar with the environment there, although a lot has changed over the years.
Anyway, it is still a question whether the possible penalty, which although Juventus have been suspended for this season, could be reinstated next season, will play a role.
Zidane spent five years at Juventus as a player. He won two Italian league titles in Turin and reached the Champions League final twice with the team. Only after that did he move to Real Madrid.
