Nedved can play football again! Juventus’ appeal is successful, and the 15 points deducted are back

Interesting news on Thursday evening! Italy’s Juventus have succeeded in their appeal to the Italian Olympic Committee’s top sports court, and have had the 15 points they were previously suspended from the competition reinstated. In addition, Pavel Nedved’s ban from football has been lifted.

The black and white part of Turin is celebrating! Italy’s most successful club of recent seasons has been punished by the deduction of 15 points in the past, while several officials have also been banned from football.

The club appealed to the Italian Olympic Committee’s highest sports court and today succeeded. The court partially upheld its appeal.

Juventus are now back, at least temporarily, on 15 points, which puts the Old Lady back among the elite and currently third with 59 points. If not for two losses in the last two games, this would make it second place, which belongs to Lazio, who have 61 points.

This drops AS Roma to fourth place with 56 points, followed by AC Milan with 53 points and Inter with 51 points. But that’s not the only thing that Juventus have done well in the appeal.

In fact, the court overturned the punishment of several officials, including Pavel Nedved. He had his eight-month ban from football overturned, so he can return to the Grande Paolo.

Besides him, former Juventus board members Paolo Galimberti, Assia Grazzioli-Veniero, Caitlin Mary Hughes, Daniela Marilung and Francesco Roncaglio were also cleared.

Not all officials are affected, however, as chairman Andrea Agnelli, chief executive Maurizio Arrivabene and former sporting director Fabio Paratici still have to serve their sentences.
