Lucie Pudilova has a very controversial loss under her belt as she was officially defeated by Joselyne Edwards. However, the Czech fighter has received a huge amount of support from UFC legends as well. How does she herself react to the result of the fight?
This weekend, the unranked UFC tournament took place in Kansas and Lucie Pudilova opened it with her fight. She faced Joselyne Edwards as a slight favorite. The Czech was better in the first two rounds, but it was only in the third five minutes that her opponent had the upper hand.
But the judges saw it differently and chose Edwards as the winner. After the match, the judges were immediately criticized. Some said it was the biggest theft they’d ever seen. UFC legend and former champion Daniel Cormier had his say.
Several fighters still working under the UFC brand also sided with Pudilova. She also received a lot of support from the media, experts and especially fans.
Especially the fans of the Czech fighter were hurt by her comments on social media.
“Thank you all for your support. It breaks my heart to have to deal with this loss. I would like toapologize to all my coaches, friends, family, fans and thank all the people who believed in me and helped me,” Pudilova wrote.
Fans, of course, are understandably dismissive that the Czech fighter has anything to apologize for. Rather, they are demanding an apology from the UFC. It’s worth noting that an official protest has already been filed. As we know, however, protests are often rather symbolic and the outcome does not change very often.
Anyway, the head of the organization Dana White knows about the whole situation and although he has not seen the fight, he will still look into everything. Pudilova lost a large financial reward because of the stolen winnings.
However, the good news is that the UFC itself is aware of the theft. Pudilova has not done herself any harm in the eyes of the organization and matchmakers.
Furthermore, Edwards has offered Pudilova a rematch if she stands for it. According to her own words, she said this directly to the Czech fighter’s coaching team as she left the cage. She herself does not wish to win in a controversial way. However, she refuses to apologize for anything as she did not score the fight.
