Really?! Robbed Pudilova stumbles, request for reconsideration of the result was swept off the table
Lucie Pudilová is not in an easy situation. She won her second fight after her return to the UFC, but the judges saw the fight differently and so she officially scored a defeat. She didn’t hide her disappointment. So a request was made for a review of the result, only to come up short.
Lucie Pudilová is not in an easy situation. She won her second fight after her return to the UFC, but the judges saw the fight differently and so she officially scored a defeat. She didn’t hide her disappointment. So a request was made for a review of the result, only to come up short.
Joselyne Edwards now boasts a streak of three straight UFC wins. But her latest win has a bitter aftertaste. Virtually no one in the MMA community who saw the fight recognizes her. It’s official, but the experts, media and fans are clear.
The fight should have been won by Lucie Pudilova, who won two rounds out of three. Immediately after the fight there was talk that the Czech fighter was robbed of her win. Even a legend like Daniel Cormier stood up for her.
But what next? Pudilova and her team filed a request for a review of the result and a protest. But a protest almost never succeeds, really only in rare cases. And the request for a review of the result came to naught.
In fact, the Missouri State Athletic Commission should have denied the reconsideration request altogether.
“Despite the fact that 100% of the media and many respected experts say the judges must have made a mistake, we were denied even a mere reconsideration of the result. It’s very disheartening,” said Brian Butler-Au, head of Pudil’s management stable.
Pudilova is therefore 1-1 upon her return to the UFC. In her first stint in the top organization, she notched two wins and five losses, but subsequently rode a winning streak back to the Octagon and earned her return to the world’s top spot with a 5-1 record on the domestic scene.
It’s worth noting that on MMADecisions.com, where members of the MMA media submit their scorecards, Pudilova won with all members. Two people even saw her win all three rounds.
