The Premier League is dealing with a huge scandal. Arsenal shocked Anfield with two goals in the first half-hour in Sunday’s round robin showpiece, but Liverpool managed to level a frantic game and even went within touching distance of victory in the final minutes. This puts Manchester City back in the title fight.
But the match has an unpleasant ending. Because before the half-time break, there was a controversial situation between full-back Andrew Robertson and assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis.
Liverpool reduced the deficit with a goal from Mohamed Salah before going into the cabins and all hell broke loose in the stadium. The aforementioned incident occurred after the whistle to end the first act.
Robertson confronted Hatzidakis and he elbowed him.
Jürgen Klopp’s full-back got so angry that he had to be calmed down by his teammates and the situation on the pitch had to be ironed out by coach Klopp.
The controversial situation is already being dealt with by PGMOL, the company responsible for refereeing in British football.
“PGMOL is aware of an incident involving assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at half-time during Liverpool’s match against Arsenal at Anfield. We will investigate the whole matter,” the official statement said , according to The Sun.
