Will there be a change of ownership at Inter Milan? This is the current speculation of the Italian media, as the Bahraini investment company Investcorp has expressed serious interest in taking over the Italian giant.
On Monday afternoon, the well-known Italian website Football Italia reported that the Bahraini investment company Investcorp has shown serious interest in taking over Inter Milan.
The Italian big club is currently owned by Chinese firm Suning Holdings Group. Investcorp is reportedly already preparing a consortium.
The Nerazzurri have struggled financially in recent years stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. This has hit the Chinese company very hard, and the recent crackdown on foreign investment in China has not helped the situation.
Suning is therefore in a very delicate situation at the moment and has limited resources.
Another problem is also the credit obligations to Oaktree. In short, the situation needs to be addressed.
In any case, the Chinese do not want to give up the Milan club. According to Economy Middle East, Investcorp plans to accumulate between 545 and 654 million euros before taking further steps.
“Investcorp’s interest in acquiring Inter also reflects the growing interest in football clubs as lucrative investment opportunities, particularly among wealthy individuals and investment companies in the Middle East and Asia, ” the aforementioned daily said.
Notably, Investcorp was previously interested in taking over AC AC, Milan’s other big club. However, the Reds were bought by RedBird Capital Partners. However, the plan for a potential takeover of Inter is understandably in its early stages at the moment. We’ll have to wait a while for more details.
