Liverpool are definitely out of the running for Bellingham, according to reliable sources

Jude Bellingham is the shiniest diamond on the transfer market. The whole world is fighting for the 19-year-old midfielder, with three main favourites – Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City. However, the Reds are definitely out of the fight.

Who wouldn’t want Bellingham? He is only 19 years old, so his whole career is still ahead of him. But he has already racked up almost 200 starts in adult football and often wears the captain’s armband at Dortmund, so he is already an experienced leader. He has already played 24 games for a busy England national team.

Although perhaps every club in the world would want Bellingham, not all clubs can afford him and not all clubs match his goals and ability. So the shortlist has shrunk to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

These three were supposed to be in a tug of war for Bellingham’s signature in the summer. But the Reds are out of the running before the opening whistle.

“Unless something unexpected happens, Liverpool are out of the running for Bellingham. The main candidates remain Real Madrid and Manchester City,” Paul Joyce, a respected journalist and the number one source on Liverpool news, reported on Tuesday night.

So what is the reason that Liverpool are giving up the fight for their dream midfield signing? Because the Reds are facing a major rebuilding of an ageing squad this summer. So they will have to spread the money across multiple players in all ranks and cannot afford to spend such a large amount on one player.

In fact, the transfer fee for Bellingham will climb up to 150 million euros. If Liverpool went for this transfer, there would not be much left for other signings, so the management should have chosen the rebuilding route.

As for the choice between Real Madrid and Manchester City, it is not yet clear which option Bellingham will lean towards. The situation is in some ways similar to the transfer of Erling Haaland last year.

Back then too, the Dortmund youngster publicly acknowledged the greatness of the Madrid outfit, however, competition in the form of Karim Benzema caused Haaland to end up at the Citizens where there was no competition at the top.

It’s a similar story for Bellingham, Real Madrid certainly tempt him, but at least next season he would have to fight for a place with Modric, Kroos, Camavinga, Tchouameni and Valverde, whereas at the Etihad Stadium he would be virtually guaranteed a place in the line-up.

On the other hand, Modric and Kroos will probably play their last season, then someone will have to take over their scepters. And Bellingham would be perfect for that task.
