Juan Cuadrado is currently a footballer for Juventus in Italy, who has been to several interesting destinations during his career. However, the beginning of his journey was marked by tragic events.

Cuadrado’s mother worked as a maid. After a while, she was offered a better job and became the manager of an ice cream shop. Due to time constraints, she was unable to take care of little Juan, so he had to move in with his grandmother.

His mother did everything she could to provide food for her family and to save some money for the future. That’s why she used to sell bananas after work, which her son helped her with. Cuadrado put export labels on the fruit while his mother washed and packed the fruit.

The only joy in his hard life was playing football. At the age of 13, he moved over 300 kilometres from home to begin his career at Atletico Uraba.

Right from the start, compared to his teammates, he stood out with his higher self-esteem and confidence, which led to an early move to the second highest local league. A stint at Medelin followed and from there he made his way to the coveted Europe.
