Nainggolan? If you put 8 shots in front of him, he drinks them all, he’s a criminal, says former AS Roma director
Radja Nainggolan is a well-known rambunctious man who has had some crazy moments during his career. But even crazier things are the ones that never saw the light of day. This is confirmed by the former AS Roma sporting director.
Radja Nainggolan is a well-known rambunctious man who has had some crazy moments during his career. But even crazier things are the ones that never saw the light of day. This is confirmed by the former AS Roma sporting director.
The Belgian footballer has quite a rich footballing CV. He started professional football at Cagliari, where he played five seasons, then spent five years at AS Roma.
In 2018, he left for Inter Milan, then returned to Cagliari. He spent another season at Inter in the autumn and again at Cagliari in the spring. He then went home to Belgium, where he spent a year and a half in Antwerp, and since the summer he has been playing in Italy again, this time in Serie B at Spalu.
Nainggolan has always been a big troublemaker who didn’t go far for sharp tackles, arguments and altercations. His appearance also makes him a fear to behold.
And he was just as crazy off the field as he was on it. In Italy, it was no secret that Nainggolan felt like a fish out of water in the nightlife.
“I love him like my son, but he’s a criminal. If you put seven or eight drinks in front of him, he’ll drink them all. One by one. For him, life is a game. But deep down he is a good man,” said former AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini in an interview with Gazzetta delo Sport.
“But he annoyed me a little bit, he always got everything he wanted, but he’s a joke. His teammates should have corrected him more, not encouraged him. But he’s a top player, the things I saw from him in Rome I haven’t seen from other players,” Sabatini added.
Nainggolan has the 2020/21 Inter title to his name, but the aftertaste remains that a player with such ability could have done more.
