Fulham vs. Wolverhampton: Preview and betting tips

Friday’s football programme features Fulham vs Wolverhampton. Before the season, few people would have guessed that either team would be in contention for the European Cups at the end of February, and even fewer would have guessed that the home side would be. What to bet on?

Fulham have been playing very well all season. They are currently unbeaten for five games, and have even won their last three games. They are sixth in the table, but only three points above ninth placed Brentford, plus they have one game to play.

Wolves, on the other hand, have also picked up. From the last three rounds they have extracted nine points for three wins, for example, they gave Liverpool three goals and conceded only once.

They are 15th in the table, but with the balance of the Premier League this season, that means only a three-point lead for relegation.

The home side rely on goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serbian forward has scored on 11 occasions and assisted three times so far. Veteran winger Willian has also come into his own, with three goals and three accurate passes.

Wolverhampton’s key figures

Away captain and Portugal international Ruben Neves scored five important goals from midfield. Diminutive dribbler Daniel Podence has caught on on the wing, also striking five times and assisting once so far.

Not many goals have fallen in Fulham’s games since the World Cup in Qatar, with more than two goals seen in only two of the past ten games, three of which Fulham players have finished the game with a clean sheet.

Wolves have long been notorious for their poor productivity, and with 17 shots they have, with Everton, the worst attack in the league. They have struck more than once in only two of their last seven games, and three times they have come out completely blank.

Considering Wolves’ weak attack, which is basically devoid of a number one, and also considering Fulham’s goal-poor games and Mitrovic’s deteriorating form, it is safe to assume that at most two goals will be scored in the game.
