VIDEO: The most bizarre selfie in history? Midtjylland stopper passes into his own empty net
You don’t just see that. I don’t think you’ll see more bizarre own goals. Stefan Gartenmann completed Midtjylland’s misery with this own goal, which will be his nightmare for weeks to come.

Midtjylland took on Sporting Lisbon in the 1/16 final of the Europa League. The Portuguese side was the favourite, but did not confirm this role in the first match.
The first clash in Portugal ended in a 1-1 draw, but in the rematch Sporting completely trampled the Danish team.
Sebastian Coates opened the scoring in the 21st minute. That would not have been such a disaster, however, when Paulinho saw two yellow cards in a row and was sent off in the 36th and 38th minutes, Midtjylland’s chances dropped.
In the second half, Pedro Goncalves added a second goal and Sporting Lisbon’s third in the 77th minute. Stefan Gartenmann completed Midtjylland’s utter misery in the 85th minute.
the 26-year-old stopper received a pass when he was the last man standing. Goalkeeper Jonas Lössl headed his shot off target, where it should have been headed for a small home goal, so that it wouldn’t end up in the net if the goalkeeper made a mistake.
But Gartenmann didn’t notice the goalkeeper’s shift at all and without looking directed a fairly sharp little home into the middle of the net. But since Lössl wasn’t standing there, the ball went into the net without any problems.
Sporting won 4: 0 and advanced to the next round. Midtjylland’s journey through Europe is now over and Gartenmann in particular will want to forget this match quickly.
