He defended Ukraine against the Russians, he found his belt in the ruins of his house. Now Bellator champion Amosov has run over his opponent and defended his title

For a year now, the Russians have been destroying more and more lives, not just Ukrainian lives, but Ukrainians have been showing their heroism not only on the battlefield, but also in the field of sport. One of them is Yaroslav Amosov, the Bellator champion. He first defended his country against aggressors, and now he has defended his title.

Amosov defended Ukraine, found his belt in a shelled house

It was June 11, 2021 when Ukrainian fighter Yaroslav Amosov became the new welterweight champion of Bellator, the second largest MMA organization in the world, when he defeated Douglas Lima. At the time, however, he didn’t expect it to be his last fight for a while.

After Amosov won the title, he arranged a fight with Michael Paige for May 13, 2022, when he would make his first defense. Only the fight didn’t happen. In fact, towards the end of February that year, Ukraine was invaded by the Russians.

Once the invasion happened, Amosov didn’t hesitate to enlist in the Ukrainian army. He left his wife and six-month-old child behind to help defend his hometown of Irpin. It was also in this town that his mother lived, and when the Russians attacked Irpin, she hid her son’s championship belt in her house. But then she evacuated and left the belt in the house.

However, during the liberation of the city, Amosov went on a mission with other soldiers to find his belt. He successfully found it in a house that was definitely no longer habitable. Irpin is now a free city.

In recent months, however, Amosov has gone back to training and has begun preparing for his first title defense. While he defended his country, the welterweight division was alive. The new interim champion was Logan Storley, whom he had beaten in the past.

Amosov successfully defended his title, destroyed his opponent

Yaroslav Amosov waited more than a year and a half for his first defence. However, he lived to see it and faced Logan Storley for the second time in his career. It happened at the Dublin tournament and it was very touching.

There were a lot of people in the audience with Ukrainian flags, and the 29-year-old was cheered on by almost the entire sell-out crowd. And the match suited him perfectly. Although he ended up on points, Amosov was the better fighter.

He dominated all the rounds, looked relaxed. It was almost as if his first defense was just fun. After all, from his perspective, this view would make the most sense.

After winning, he called President Vladimir Putin a madman and warned of the danger Russian terrorists pose to everyone.

Amosov now boasts an incredible 27-0 record. No one in Bellator can boast a longer winning streak or a better record. At 29 years old, the Ukrainian warrior is on a roll.

He defended his title not only for himself, but for the whole of Ukraine. After all, the Russians killed many Ukrainian athletes during their aggression, but also ordinary civilians, including innocent children.
