Barcelona are thinking about their future and have a 17-year-old Brazilian gem in their sights. This is the talented striker Vitor Roque. But if they want to get him, they will have to pay big money for him. Moreover, he is not the only club interested in the player.
The Catalans are going through a good run at the moment. Despite the financial crisis that Barcelona’s management is trying to solve, the club is basking in first place in La Liga and can enjoy a slight lead.
In addition, Barcelona has some interesting young players in its squad, which could also make the club’s future very interesting. However, there is no need to rest on its laurels and so the Catalan giant is looking for young talent.
Vitor Roque, the 17-year-old striker of Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense, is now in the sights of the current leader of the top Spanish competition. The young Brazilian will celebrate his 18th birthday at the end of February.
Roque is already playing for Paranaense’s A-team. Last year he played more of a joker role, but he played 36 competitive games and scored 7 goals, adding 3 assists.
Besides that, the talented striker also shines in the Brazilian Under-20 national team jersey, scoring 6 goals in 9 matches. At such a young age, it is no wonder that Transfermarkt estimates his value at €11 million.
However, the price Athletico are asking for him is understandably considerably higher. Barcelona offered €25 million for him, only to fail. And neither did other clubs. However, outside Barcelona, only Arsenal is known.
Paranaense want much more money for their young star. And apart from the club, his agent Andre Cury is also aware of his qualities and confirmed his interest in his services in an interview with Globo Sport.
“Roque has shown that he has all the physical, mental and technical parameters to play for a big club in Europe. The best strikers in Europe are getting old. Be it Benzema, Cavani or Lewandowski. It’s time to give him space,” Cury was quoted as saying.
