Japanese talent astonishes Premier League and rises in price

The talented Brighton midfielder is having a very successful season after the arrival of Robert De Zerbi on the Seagulls bench. In the last seven games he has collected 5 goals and one assist.

Kaoru Mitoma is a 25-year-old native of Kanagawa, Japan, who mostly plays as a left winger.

The Japanese talent has started 15 games for Brighton this season, scoring 5 goals, making him the third top scorer for the traditional English club along with Mac Alistair.

Mitoma is very likely to be a sought after commodity in the summer transfer window. The big rise in his career is indicated by the fact that Mitoma’s market value has more than tripled in the last year.

The player joined Brighton on 10 August 2021, spending his first year on loan at partner club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, who play in the Belgian first league.

Interestingly, Royal Union played in the third Belgian league three years ago and last season almost managed to win the Jupiler Pro League (1st Belgian league)

After a successful stint in Belgium, in which he managed to score 5 goals and assist 4 in 21 games, Mitoma joined Brighton where he is slowly working his way up the ranks of the club’s building blocks.

Mitoma was a member of the Japanese national team at the World Cup in Qatar. There he jumped into all four games as a substitute. He played a total of 13 games for the national team and scored 5 goals.

Mitomo’s career is already very unique. The player turned down professional contact at the age of nineteen. Instead, he chose to complete his college education in Fukuma. There he wrote his thesis on football tackles.
