Championship celebrations broke out in two football countries on Sunday! Ironically, in the countries that met in the Euro finals last year, Italy and England. The Italian Serie A was dominated by AC Milan after eleven long years, the English Premier League was won by Manchester City after a dramatic finish. Together, we’ll take a look at the interesting moments that followed the euphoric conclusion.
One of the central figures of the celebrations in Italy was star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. At the age of 40, he scored the thirty-second trophy of his career. The ever-confident Swedish forward, however, was a shock during the championship celebrations.
He dedicated the Scudetto (championship title) to his late agent Mino Raiola, who represented him throughout his career. “This Scudetto is for Raiola. It’s my first title without him.”
Zlatan also talked about his career. He said he will continue with football as long as he feels physically well. He also confided that he has some physical problems, but that he will make a decision about continuing or ending his career very soon.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic also made the most masterful entrance which entertained the fans all over the world. He marched to the championship podium with a cigar, see for yourself!
While this Italian show may have entertained fans of rival clubs, in England Manchester City’s championship celebrations are slightly tarnished.
As usual in England, after the final whistle and the 3-2 win over Aston Villa, City supporters ran onto the pitch. But this time in England it was not without incident. Goalkeeper Robin Olsen was attacked several times on his way out!
