Zima commented on sitting out in Italy. What does he think of the competition at FC Torino?

David Zima played his first regular season game in a month on Thursday. The talented defender hasn’t been making many starts since his transfer to Serie A, and he commented on the move after the win over Kuwait for CT Sport.
David Zima and Jakub Brabec were given priority over Tomas Kalas on Thursday. It is the experienced Bristol stopper who is expected to start against Estonia. Zima could get the chance to start alongside him.
“I’m especially happy to be able to play after a month. And what will happen on Tuesday, I don’t know yet. I’ll work hard in training and we’ll see,” said the Sigma Olomouc alumnus.
Zima himself was involved in the second goal of the Czech team. His shot was deflected by the Kuwait goalkeeper, but only into the area where Jakub Pesek was lurking alone. He only hit the empty space with his head.
“I think it turned out as well as it could. We scored a goal out of it. We, the defensive players, played more often on the offensive side, but since we were playing one-on-one, we had to be alert. Every game is a good game, we get into a match rhythm. Even if the opponent didn’t reach some high qualities.”
For Zima, the game in Olomouc was the first match since the end of the national break in October. In Turin, he is still struggling for a place in the line-up and surprisingly the departure of two key stoppers in the summer transfer window has not helped.
“It’s been tough, but there’s a lot of quality there. Unfortunately I’m new there and in Italy it’s often like that, especially with the defensive players, they need to get some tactical habits. It’s a bit more challenging. We play one-on-one all over the pitch, so you have a big responsibility not to make a mistake.”
On the other hand, the twenty-one-year-old stopper can say that he played well against Juventus.
“I’m the type who doesn’t experience it too much, I took it like any normal match. Qualitatively, I would compare it to when we played Arsenal. The quality of the players is huge, but we could have got some points. It wasn’t completely clear-cut,” concluded Zima.
