You’re not a proper captain! De Gea defended Fernandes after the winning goal in stoppage time

Bruno Fernandes has come in for criticism in recent weeks for not being the right captain for Manchester United according to Roy Keane. But David de Gea has defended his former teammate.
Roy Keane is a well-known critic. He has seen huge success at Manchester United, it was the hegemon of English football during his time, which is why he can’t watch the Red Devils struggle for a decade.
He’s such a big critic in the TV studios and he doesn’t leave a dry thread on anyone. With the current poor results, he’s chosen Bruno Fernandes.
The performance of the Portuguese midfielder cannot be questioned as he has been one of the most reliable players in recent years. However, opinion is divided by his appointment as captain.
Fernandes often “breezes” at the referee, he constantly gesticulates to his teammates who do not play him correctly and he gets extremely frustrated after defeats. This, according to many, is not the behaviour of a good leader.
Keane has the same opinion and he gave his scathing opinion last week after the derby defeat to Manchester City. The Irish footballer led the Red Devils as captain in a very successful era and he doesn’t like the tape with Ferdinand.
“The first thing I would do is take his armband off. I know it’s a big decision but Fernandes is not the type of captain. He’s a talented player, but from what I saw today – whining, moaning, throwing his arms in the air all the time – that’s not really acceptable in a captain,” Keane told Sky Sports.
But the Portuguese midfielder quickly found a way to mute the criticism. In Saturday’s game at Fulham, he fired a 1-0 win in stoppage time to stave off another points loss.
In addition, Fernandes received a lot of support with an Instagram post celebrating the goal. Former teammate David De Gea seemed to disagree with Roy Keane’s words and wrote ironically.
