You’re acting like a monkey! they insulted Vinícius in Spain. He has received the support of (not only) all of Brazil and the god Pelé
If we take current form, Vinicius is one of the best players in the world. Except for one game, he has scored every time, accumulating 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 games. Goals celebrate dances, but because of this, a huge affair broke out in Spain.
If we take current form, Vinicius is one of the best players in the world. Except for one game, he has scored every time, accumulating 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 games. Goals celebrate dances, but because of this, a huge affair broke out in Spain.
It was first picked up by Atlético Madrid fans who took to social media to insult Vinícius for his celebration dances and threatened him to definitely not try it in Sunday’s derby at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Then Atlético captain Koke added fuel to the fire, letting it be known in an interview that if Vinícius celebrates a goal by dancing, there will definitely be trouble.
This is not a new thing for Brazilian players. Neymar or Lucas Paquetá often celebrate their goals with a celebratory dance, and in the past we have seen similar things with Ronaldinho, Robinho or Pat. After all, Atlético has Antoine Griezmann, who at one time celebrated all his goals with the so-called “fortnite dance” and nobody in the team minded.
And to top it all off, Bravo Pedro, president of the Spanish Agents Association. He racially abused Vinícius on El Chirinquito.
“He must respect the opponent. If he wants to dance the samba, he should go to the Sambadrome in Brazil. Here, he must respect his opponents and not behave like a monkey,” Pedro used very harsh words.
And he has unleashed a huge wave of support for Vinícius. On social media, teammates from the Brazilian national team such as Neymar, Raphinha, Richarlison, Thiago Silva and Lucas Paquetá immediately defended him. Gradually, Real Madrid teammates joined in.
But that was by no means all. The Twitter hashtag #BailaViniJr, i.e. “dance Vini.”
“Dance, dribble, but above all have respect. On Thursday night, our footballer Vinicius Junior was the target of a racist attack. The Brazilian Football Association shows solidarity and joins #BailaViniJr,” Brazil tweeted, adding a video of Vinícius dancing with Neymar and Lucas Paqueta.
“Real Madrid rejects any kind of xenophobic and racist language in the sports industry and in everyday life. Unfortunately, in recent hours similar unnecessary and regrettable statements have been made against our player, Vinícius Junior,” Real Madrid said in its official statement.
“Real Madrid wants to express its support and love for Vinícius, a player who plays football with respect, competitiveness and joy. The club has instructed the club’s legal department to deal with racist insults towards our players,” the club added.
“Football is joy. It is a passion. It’s a real party. While racism still exists, we will not let it stop us from smiling. And we will continue to fight racism in this way: We will fight for our right to be happy. Vini, dance,” wrote Brazilian football god Pelé on Twitter.
