Ferencváros, after eliminating Slavia from Prague, will face Bern from Switzerland in the Champions League. The first match is played outdoors, on artificial turf. Can they cope with the unpleasant environment?

Young Boys made it through two double matches in the last round. First, they eliminated Slovan Bratislava 5:4 thanks to a win in the return leg, then they won at home against Cluj 3:1 after a draw in Romania.

Ferencváros’ journey is remembered by most Czech fans. After clear progress through Pristina and Vilnius, the Hungarian champion was waiting for Slavia. After a 2:0 home win, Ferencváros defended a 0:1 defeat in Prague, which was enough for them to advance.

Bern was led in the preliminary rounds by striker Theoson Siebatcheu, who has already scored three goals in qualifying. The right side of the defence belongs to Christian Fassnacht, who you may remember from the summer Euros, where he played in a Swiss jersey.

For Ferencváros, it’s Myrtle Uzuni who is burning it up in the Champions League quest, having scored four goals for the green and whites. Hairy-haired striker Ryan Mmaee added three more goals, while Slovakian international Robert Mak also made one appearance.

The Swiss team is struggling defensively, keeping only one clean sheet in their last seven games. This plays into the hands of Ferencváros, who have scored at least two goals in six of their last eight games.

Given the artificial turf in Bern and the quality of the squad, I think the home side will win.
