West Ham United are already out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round after a home draw and a 0-1 defeat to second division Bristol. The Hammers fans understandably call it a disgraceful performance, the visitors also left the game with one red card.

West Ham had already struggled in their first game against Bristol, drawing 1-1. However, the fans of the famous English team in particular hoped that the opening game was more of an exception, a bad day.

And that they would make it through the away leg, albeit an unpleasant one, without too many problems and advance from the third round of the FA Cup. But the exact opposite happened. After a misunderstanding and a big mistake in the away team’s defence, the second division side took a one-goal lead in the third minute.

Tommy Conway had a great chance on the edge of the box and his shot beat goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. West Ham still had several chances to level the score in the first half. But opportunities from Maxwell Cornet and Danny Ings did not result in goals.

In the second half, Tomas Soucek had a great chance. The captain of the Czech national team ran onto a nice centre. But he sent his header under the crossbar of the home goal. But goalkeeper Max O’Leary was ready and made a great save to deny the attempt.

The Hammers didn’t take any of their chances in the game and didn’t score a goal. Moreover, they also left the game with one red card. It was given to Said Benrahma in the 51st minute for an unsportsmanlike and indiscriminate foul.

West Ham thus crashed out in the third round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2016/17 season. This time falling short to a long-average Championship side. Needless to say, Bristol are currently up to fourteenth place in the second highest competition.

West Ham failure against Bristol leaves fans furious

Of course, nobody is happy with the result, but the fans of the London team have no sympathy for such a result. Phil Clarke called the Hammers’ performance on the X platform under West Ham’s post as pathetic from start to finish.

Other West Ham supporters want Benrahma to leave, describing him, Ings and Cornet in terms of quality as players just right for a Championship team.

“You guys on the board need to delay contract extension talks until the end of the season. Moyes has shown he can’t manage a team. We could end up with nothing at the end of the season and if we don’t qualify for the European Cup he should leave,” thinks Lee Ford.

The overwhelming majority of other fans then agree on the same thing, whether it is the playing squad or just coach Moyes. However, the Hammers need to bounce back quickly from this defeat, with a league game at Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
