Horror’s season with the Blaugranas has already been carried away by the sacking of coach Ronald Koeman. Out of fifteen competitive matches, Barcelona celebrated a win only six times, lost against the hated Real Madrid, and lost to complete midgets in the league.
But Blaugranas fans believe that better times are on the horizon. For player icon Xavi is expected to return to the bench. But he doesn’t seem to be able to do much with the current squad.
He will need to replenish the squad. And preferably with some star players. According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Xavi already has the first name that should lift the Catalan club’s fame.
It should be Paul Pogba. The French midfielder’s contract at Manchester United expires in the summer and he has no plans to sign a new one yet. Thus, he will be able to choose in January where he will move for free in the summer.
This would be an ideal option for Barcelona, as, as we know, the club is drowning in a major financial crisis left behind by former president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
According to Spanish media, Xavi should want one more name. Erling Haaland. One of the best strikers in the world would come at a considerably higher price, although it might not be a big race as in previous years in the case of Coutinho or Dembélé. Haaland has a buyout clause of €75 million at Dortmund, of course you have to add the bonus for the player and agent and the expensive contract.
It is questionable whether Barcelona in their current financial situation could afford such a transfer. However, it is not surprising that Xavi would really like this pairing at Camp Nou.
