Barcelona is in another crisis after a series of great performances. After a surprise Europa League elimination, they lost at home to both Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano. According to the coach of the Catalan club, the team did not show its character in the last game.
Barcelona has picked up both in performance and results after the arrival of Xavi on the bench of the Catalan team. It has even climbed to the second place and started to count down the loss to the leader Real Madrid.
But the turning point has come and Barcelona is once again on the brink of crisis. First came the shocking elimination from the Europa League by Frankfurt, now Barcelona is struggling in the league competition.
Although still second in the table, they are tied on points with third-placed Sevilla. The club, however, is plagued by two home defeats to Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano.
“We deserved more, but we didn’t show the character we needed to show,” Xavi lamented after the game, according to Marca magazine.
So the goals have changed again in recent weeks. While previously Barcelona secretly hoped to fight for the title, now they have to fight for places guaranteeing participation in the Champions League.
“We are in a difficult situation. We are still fighting for the Champions League, but we have unnecessarily complicated our situation. We have to keep fighting,” the Barcelona coach added with determination.
