Xavi: I’m sick of watching Champions League games
It’s a very unusual thing. Barcelona did not advance from the Champions League group and will not play in the playoffs of the most prestigious club competition. The coach of the Catalan team, Xavi, has not yet accepted this and is still very sorry about the drop out.
It’s a very unusual thing. Barcelona did not advance from the Champions League group and will not play in the playoffs of the most prestigious club competition. The coach of the Catalan team, Xavi, has not yet accepted this and is still very sorry about the drop out.
Barcelona continued their not-so-good performance in the Champions League group stage and it’s no wonder they didn’t make it to the next stage.
In the end, they finished third in the group, just one point behind Benfica.
Barcelona will continue in European competitions only in the Europa League, where they will face Napoli in the play-offs. However, Barcelona coach Xavi is still not reconciled to this.
“We would like to still be in the Champions League. Now I just watch the games and it annoys me. But now we are in the Europa League and I see an opportunity in this competition as well,” said Xavi.
Xavi does not hide his ambitions. He wants to win the Europa League with his team. “If we win the Europa League, it would open the door to the Champions League. But there are good teams in the Europa League too.”
Barcelona will play Napoli in the Europa League playoffs on Thursday. The first of the double-header will be played at the Camp Nou.
