Xavi explained why Barcelona wins many games 1-0 and dismissed being a defensive team

Barcelona is the club with the most narrow 1:0 victories of any team in the Spanish top flight. The Catalan club’s coach has struggled to find an explanation for this statistic.
This season, Barcelona have won eight games by a score of 1: 0. No other team in La Liga has so many wins by the lowest possible margin.
This statistic may thus evoke the assumption that Barcelona relies on its solid defensive performance in matches. This may be suggested by the fact that Barcelona have only received seven goals in league duels this season.
However, this is something Xavi firmly rejects. “Defence is not our main weapon. We are still a very offensive team, but we win a lot of games 1:0 because we mess up our final passes,” the Spanish coach tried to explain
Xavi tried to show this in the last match against Villarreal, which ended with a 1: 0 result. “Look at today’s game. We had a lot of chances to score. You can see that we are an offensive team,” said the Catalan coach.
In support of Xavi’s claim, Barcelona have scored 43 goals this league season and thus hold an average of more than two goals scored per game. No club in La Liga can boast such a number of goals scored either.
However, it is also true that Barcelona has strengthened its defensive line thanks to successful transfers and can rely on it for a long time.
Goalkeeper ter Stegen has found his form again, the very talented Balde and the new French signing Koundé have made their way into the first team. Araujo and Christensen are the leaders in the midfield.
It’s still a very young defence, but it’s working well. Plus, Xavi has somewhere to go when needed. For example, the experienced Jordi Alba and Roberto are always ready, as are García and Alonso.
