Barcelona is looking for a new coach. After the sacking of Ronald Koeman, Sergi Barjuan, who had been leading the reserve team, took over as interim coach.
However, the Catalan giant is working to bring in the legendary Xavi, who is shining as a coach in Qatar.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has already reported that Barcelona and Xavi have already found common ground and Goal has similar information.
But as it seems, it will not be easy. Al Sadd doesn’t want to give up Xavi immediately, nor easily.
“Xavi is still under contract with us for two years. He is fully focused on the team’s upcoming matches to ensure that Al Sadd maintains its lead in the league and defends its title,” reads a statement from the Qatari club.
Xavi himself also gave a brief statement to the media at the pre-match press conference, ” At the moment I am focused on my mission with Al Sadd. I can’t talk about anything else.”
It is quite possible that Al Sadd will release Xavi after the completion of the season there. Currently, the Qatari league has played 7 out of 22 rounds.
