Leverkusen confirmed their role as favourites and swept Molde
Bayer Leverkusen defeated Molde 5-1 in the sixth round of the Europa League and passed through Group H without losing a single point. The Czech national team also contributed to the victory over the Norwegians. Patrik Schick scored the opening goal after six minutes when he made his first appearance in the starting line-up after an injury.
Adam Hložek followed his teammate in the second half, scoring two goals. Schick spent less than 60 minutes on the pitch, his Czech teammate played the whole game.
Xabi Alonso had words of praise for both Czech players
Patrik Schick has picked up great form after his injury and Xabi Alonso praised him in the post-match press conference. It’s great to have him back, both for him personally and for the whole team.”
Leverkusen’s head coach is happy that he can still count on the Czech international in the starting line-up, but after a long-term injury he does not dare to use him for the full 90 minutes.
Alonso did not forget about his teammate Adam Hložek at the press conference. Adam has an excellent attitude and played a great game today, I was pleased with his performance.”
There has been speculation that the Czech youngster could go out on loan in the winter as Alonso is not making much use of him, but with performances like that he could ask for a bigger chance.
” I am very happy that we won and finished with 18 points in the group. We really wanted to win and we did it today. I’m proud of that.”
