WTA: Czechs fight it out in US Open qualifying! Krejcikova scores only her second win on concrete and Kvitova is getting married!

Czech women’s tennis has a relatively large and especially promising representation in the qualification for the upcoming US Open. Jesika Malečková, Linda Fruhvirtová, Linda Nosková and Sara Bejlek are trying to participate in the main part. Other Czech women are fighting in Cleveland and Granby.

Jesika Malečková said goodbye to Ukraine’s Baindlova in the opening round of qualifying for the last Grand Slam of the season. The duel of Linda Fruhvirtova ended with the same ratio but with opposite consequences. She defeated the Swiss In-Albonova 2x 6::3. The youngest player in the top 100 of the world rankings, seventeen-year-old Linda Noskova, also advanced without losing a set.

The last Czech representative, Sara Bejlek, will play her opening match on Wednesday at 18:30. She will face Kristina Mladenovic. The other Czechs know their opponents for the second round. Fruhvirtova will face Brazilian Alves and Noskova will face the almost-homegrown Bouchard.

Barbora Krejcikova won only her second match on concrete in Cleveland. But we need to be clear about the circumstances. The FO is still looking for a winner. In the first round, Barbora was supposed to face Russia’s Potapova, where Krejcikova was the odds-on underdog despite her higher ranking. However, the Russian withdrew from the tournament and the organizers got a replacement in the form of the local Di Lorenzo, but she is only the 250th ranked player and this was really a mandatory victory for Krejcikova.

Whether we can really talk about some form will be seen only in today’s duel with again home Pera. The match starts at 18:30. Katerina Siniakova also participated in this event. However, she jumped clearly on the racket of the Chinese Zhang in the opening round 6::2 and 6::1.

In neighbouring Canada, the WTA 250 tournament is also taking place and it is there that Tereza Martincova is fighting for the biggest part of the total $250,000 subsidy. In the opening round she got past Dodin of France in two sets and today she will play Parry, also from France, at 17:30.

Finally, we can’t forget the big milestone of her life, which was reached by Petra Kvitova. It is not the winning of another grand slam, but an engagement.
