Petra Kvitova dominated the WTA event in Miami on Saturday night, winning her 30th career title. But in addition to that, she also scored a nice financial reward that put her in very elite company indeed.
Having celebrated her 33rd birthday in March, many people have already written her off. Many have suggested she should retire. But Petra Kvitova never gives up and continues to prove that she is one of the best tennis players in the world.
On Saturday night, she won the 30th title of her tennis career. She dominated the WTA event in Miami and showed that this season, with similar form, she could realistically think about Grand Slam success.
The two-time Wimbledon winner from 2011 and 2014 and Olympic bronze medalist from 2016, however, received a nice financial reward on Saturday. According to Sportskeeda, it should be more than a million dollars.
And it is thanks to the prize money in Miami that Kvitova has entered very elite tennis company. And not just the women’s, but even the men’s. Only nine male or female tennis players have earned more money on the ATP and WTA circuits during their tennis careers.
According to Eurosport, Kvitova has earned $36 million during her career
Unsurprisingly, the ranking is clearly dominated by the male trio of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. The women are unsurprisingly dominated by Serena Williams.
Kvitova is one of only five women in the top ten. Let’s hope she does well and that her rewards increase even more.
