Wow! Czech women’s footballers draw with reigning world champions USA

The Czech women’s soccer team achieved a great result at the SheBelieves Cup tournament in Carson, California. Karel Rada’s charges played a goalless draw with the home team, the leaders of the FIFA rankings.

The current world champions entered the match without their biggest stars, Megan Rapinoe or Alex Morgan. The home coach relied more on young talented players.

Despite that, the Americans pressed and created great chances, with Barbora Votíková doing very well in goal. The PSG goalkeeper made eight successful saves.

The favourite of the match outshot the Czechs 18-6, but the quality and tough Czech defence didn’t allow the opponents to get into bigger opportunities.

The last match was played in 2000, when the Czech team lost 8-1 in Melbourne, Australia.

Now the match was played on American soil, the original assumption that up to 25 000 spectators would come to the stadium in Carson was not confirmed. Only 7,333 fans found their way to the match.

The next match is in three days. Their opponent will be Iceland, who beat New Zealand 1-0 in the first match of the tournament.
