A few more games, another tournament entered, another tournament won and more records set! Brenda Fruhwirth is once again making headlines around the world. Fruhvirt is still only 15 years old and after today she already has 6 adult ITF titles to her credit, something no tennis player has ever done before!
We’ve written about this Czech gem several times before, but this is one you don’t want, so here we go again. Today, August 28, Brenda won her sixth title of the year in Braunschweig, Germany. All tournaments are the same category, ITF25.
So each event has a $25,000 subsidy. This spectacular ride was kicked off by a pair of tournaments in Argentina, which took place at the beginning of February. Brenda won the Tucuman and Tucuman 2 events by just 3 sets in 10 games.
At the end of February, she successfully qualified for the WTA tournament hosted by Guadalajara, Mexico. In the main draw, however, things moved quickly. In the first round, the Czech failed to humble Sloane Stephens.
The next 2 ITF tournaments had a very similar course and big things were expected at the junior FO in May. But even there Brenda stumbled right from the start when she couldn’t cope with Sierra from Argentina.
Brenda thus went through a difficult and unsuccessful period. But then came the rest of the story. What a great ride! 20 straight wins and 4 titles from 4 tournaments entered. The first summer one came in Klosters, Switzerland, at the end of June. A break of more than a month followed and then the titles were collected again.
The next one came in Sweden, in Danderyd. The next two were a little closer to home. In the second half of August, Brenda took part in an event in Mogyorod, Hungary, where an incredible final is worth mentioning. The Czech girl declined the German Luisa Meyer Auf Der Heide twice 6::0.
The last of the series of four consecutive titles was played in Braunschweig, Germany. Here Brenda showed her incredible form and dominance. Here too, she gave her opponent a drubbing, this time in the semi-finals, and won the whole tournament without losing a set.
To demonstrate that dominance, let’s look at the numbers from the last four tournaments. As we wrote above, Brenda has won four titles out of four events entered.
That’s 20 matches played. And in those 20 matches, Brenda has only lost one set. She hit her opponents six times and 16 sets ended 6:1 for the Czech star.
Incredible numbers, and we definitely have something to look forward to in the future. The amazing streak we are currently on is not over and who knows where it will lead. Thanks to these results, of course, the position in the WTA rankings is growing. Brenda is now 232nd in the live ranking. The Fruhvirt sisters are already the envy of the rest of the tennis world and the best is still to come.
