Jiri Prochazka has earned the respect of many people, including his opponents, by winning the UFC title
Jiri Prochazka’s winning of the UFC welterweight title, the world’s largest MMA organization, resonates through the fight world less than a month after the memorable battle. The personality of the Czech samurai has impressed many experts and fans.
However, words of admiration and respect for the Czech fighter are unusually coming from his opponents, who are leaving the fight with the Moravian warrior from Hostěradice badly scarred in body and soul.
One of them is the legendary Brazilian Glover Teixeira, who was stripped of his championship belt in his last fight. Although the seasoned veteran was still leading on points with a few seconds left, he got choked out and the title defence literally slipped through his fingers.

Those who would expect the Brazilian to be bitter would be wrong. On the contrary, Teixeira paid tribute to his opponent right after the fight and now he is looking forward to a rematch with the Czech fighter. Glover was a guest of renowned journalist Ariel Helwani yesterday, June 29, and had nothing but words of praise for the Czech fighter.
“Jiri is a warrior, he’s a real samurai,” he said on the MMA Hour about Prochazka. “I would like to fight him again because I feel I could win,” he said.
“We both read the Book of Five Rings, so I know he’s a real warrior,” he said. “He was really good on the ground, he’s trained a lot at it, it was damn hard to finish him off somehow,” he said when Helwani asked if he was surprised by Walk.
Whether there will be a rematch is entirely up to the promoters and the situation in the division. According to the latest statements of Prochazka’s trainer Martin Karaivanov, it doesn’t look like a rematch between the two fighters, but Dana White definitely didn’t rule it out in an interview a few days ago.
