Wonderful! M-Sport Ford team unveils new car for the upcoming WRC season
It will probably be the most beautiful car at the start of the new WRC season. But the question is whether it will also be the most powerful. M-Sport Ford will enter the 2023 season not only with a redesign of its cars, but also with a new driver line-up.
It will probably be the most beautiful car at the start of the new WRC season. But the question is whether it will also be the most powerful. M-Sport Ford will enter the 2023 season not only with a redesign of its cars, but also with a new driver line-up.
After Toyota and Hyundai, the M-Sport Ford team has also revealed the shape of the new car. Unlike last season, however, the purple paint has been largely dropped from the team’s cars, with the team opting to replace it with a particularly rich blue with flashes of pink.
As usual, Ford will be supported by Red Bull in the new season. However, the energy drink manufacturer is extending its support even further, which in practice means that drivers Ott Tänak and Pierre-Louis Loubet will become official Red Bull athletes.
And Greek driver Jourdan Serderidis will also don a different suit in terms of colour combination for the season opener in Monte-Carlo.
However, you can see the shape of the new Ford for yourself in the attached Twitter post below.
A new season with a new driver line-up
As we wrote in one of our earlier articles, the 2019 World Champion Tänak from Estonia will be the team’s number one driver. Although he still had one year left on his contract at Hyundai, he could have left the South Korean team earlier thanks to an option.
The role of driver number two in the 2023 season will be filled by French rising star Loubet, who already drove seven races last year. He has therefore become a full-time Ford driver for this year.
However, the third driver, who will only compete in four events (Monte-Carlo, Mexico, Sardinia and Kenya – ed.), will be the aforementioned Serderidis.
Like the Greek driver, the legendary Sébastien Loeb is also expected to take part in selected events during the 2023 season. However, he will not take part in the Monte-Carlo Rally due to his still recent participation in the famous Dakar Rally.
