Manchester United will close the calendar year with a game at Wolverhampton. Both teams need points as the home side are in the relegation zone. What to expect from the game and what to bet on?
Wolverhampton won against Everton in the last round, but it was a lucky win and they still remained in the relegation zone. From 18th place, they are only one point behind for salvation, and 14th in a balanced table. Bournemouth points three.
Manchester also put in a decent performance at home against Nottingham, beating them 3-0. Even without Cristiano Ronaldo they did well and are close to the Champions League. From fifth place, they are one point behind fourth-placed Tottenham with a game to spare.
Wolves key figures
Wolves rely on Daniel Podence, the Portuguese speedster has scored three times and assisted once. Compatriot Ruben Neves is holding down the midfield, scoring four goals so far and is captain. He has been with the team since Championship days.
Key United figures
The visitors are built on the form of striker Marcus Rashford, he has hit ten times and assisted four times in a red jersey this season, adding three shots at the World Cup. In the centre of midfield, experienced Brazilian Casemiro has been reliable.
What to expect and what to bet on?
Wolves are not doing well at all in attack. With ten goals scored, they have the worst offense in the league, scoring more than once in only two of their 16 league games. Even last-placed Southampton are better in this respect.
Manchester, on the other hand, seem to have been spread thin by the end of Cristiano Ronaldo. He has scored two or more goals in five of his last six games. This is mainly due to Rashford’s resurgence of good old form.
Considering Rashford’s excellent form, the poor state of Wolves’ attack and the fact that the home side don’t have a single real goalscorer, I think Manchester will win.
