Saturday’s Premier League schedule will feature Wolverhampton vs Liverpool alongside Everton vs Arsenal. A lot will be at stake in the match between two struggling teams, with the home side looking to stave off relegation and the visitors to move closer to the Top 4.
Wolverhampton have picked up with new coach Julen Lopetegui, but a heavy draw has prevented a significant change in results and table. Wolves are in 17th place, a score above relegation and two points above last place.
Liverpool are also in a terrible position, having waited a long six games for a win. They have been knocked out of both domestic cups and are a disgraceful ninth in the league. They are already ten points behind the top four with a game to spare.
Key Wolves figures
The home side rely on central midfielder Ruben Neves, the Portuguese international has scored four goals so far. On the wing, his low centre of gravity compatriot Daniel Podence, author of five goals and one assist, is ailing.
Liverpool’s key figures
Mohamed Salah has stuck around a bit on the away side, yet he is on a par with 17 goals and seven assists. On the other hand, 19-year-old offensive midfielder Harvey Elliott is blossoming, having asserted himself five times and assisted once so far.
The Wolves have struggled especially on offense, with 12 goals scored, they have the league’s worst offense. They’ve scored more than once in only one of their last seven games, three of which they’ve even come up empty.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are not doing well on away grounds. They have lost four of their last six games away from Anfield, conceding an average of two goals per game. At Brighton, they got a treble in the league and a deuce in the FA Cup.
Considering Wolves’ shooting ineptitude, the Salah factor and the pressure on Liverpool, who cannot afford another wobble, I think the visitors will win at their opponents’ ground.
